HZH3 Hash #150 – “The Yay!!! Yippee!!! We Finally Made It To 150 Run” – Re-HASHED

HZH3 Hash #150 – “The Yay!!! Yippee!!! We Finally Made It To 150 Run” – Sat, 25 October, 1.00pm – Starting at the TongWu Mountain Tea Village Bus Station and ending at the LongWu Tea Village.

Hares for Hash #150 were Gasbag, Sheep Shagger, Just “Birkhoff” and Sweet FA. Sheep Shagger and Sweet FA did some scouting during the week before the Hash, but do you think that prevented any trail setting mishaps from happening… No, it didn’t. But, in any case, at the end of the day the Hash #150 Walkers’ and Runners’ trails got the thumbs up from all the Hashers. So, it was a successful day for the Hares!!!

There was a bit of panic before the Hash as this was the first time we tried hiring a bus to pick the Hashers up and take them to the Hash start point for the A to B run. With not long to go until the buses were due to arrive, there were small groups of Hashers wandering aimlessly around the world famous Gudang Green Square… Anyway, they finally all came together (Ooooo!) just in time to find the buses and get on board.

Due to various trail setting misadventures, only one Hare made it back to the start point in time for the Hash start. Well done to Just “Birkhoff” who had set the special parts of the Walkers’ trail. Meanwhile, Sheep Shagger and Gasbag finished off the Long Run trail and then put their feet up for 2 hours waiting for the Hashers to reach HOME… which they’d marked all the way to their table at the Bash venue instead of to the designated HOME Circle location at the Giant Teapot Statue… It’s so hard to find good help these days! While those two were taking it easy, I took another hour or so to finish off the Ballbuster Run Hash trail and then set up the Circle location after I got back to HOME.

Out on the Hash trails, due to the inability of the Pack to read simple and clearly marked Hash marks, they got lost and delayed a couple of times, so in the end no Hash runners made it to the Long Run turn-off point before the 4.30pm cut-off point to continue on the Ballbuster Run trail. I see that this left Obama very sad as he’d hoped to tackle the full Ballbuster Run… or was he just pretending to be upset and in reality was crying tears of joy and that he was scared of Hangzhou’s Hash #150 Ballbuster Run Trail…? The jury is still out.

At the Circle there were a surprising number of Down Downs given to the Hares, considering the perfectly laid Hash Trail we’d set… It was great to see quite a few people made the effort to wear a costume for Halloween. It was super awesome to have quite a few Hash Virgins join us on this Hash. And, finally, it was fantastic to have a goodly number of visiting Hashers from Shanghai and Hong Kong, etc.

The Bash (held at Cha Zhi Yu 茶之语 Restaurant) was a mighty fine feast fit for a King or at least a Duke… During the dinner Obama led the Hash naming ceremony for 2 Hashers. Welcome to My Brother’s Rubber and Magic Foot Long!

The after party was held at Amigo Bar and various other places around Hangzhou.

If all goes well, then we should hit HZH3 Hash #200 in late 2016. Don’t miss it!!!

See some of the action in the photos below.

Pondicherry_Panorama_1 (1)

Hi Hashers,

The 2015 Pan Asia Hash will be held in “Pondy”, India – Fri-Sun, 25-27 Sep 2015

This is probably the biggest Hash event on the Asian Hashing calendar for 2015. They estimate there will be 2500 – 3000 Hashers, so it’s sure to be an amazing event in a scenic coastal city in S-E India!!!

The Official information and Registration website is: http://www.panasiapondy.com/

FYI, Triple-X and Gasbag have already signed up!

“Pondy” = Pondicherry = Puducherry (Tamil) which is a small, scenic beachside city with a long French colonial history. It is in Tamil Nadu State about 150kms south of Chennai City on the S-E coast in India. See Google Map link: https://goo.gl/maps/LO3xB

Here’s what the organisers have to say:

“The biggest event in the 2015 Hashing calendar is a 100% On On!

After the early mismanagement . . . hey, come on its a hash after all, the web-site is live and online registration will be available before the end of the month. We have negotiated excellent Hash rates for local accommodation and you will be able to view and book by following the
link on the PANHP2015 web-site by the end of the month.

The committee’s experience of organising various Nash and anniversary Hashes ensures this will be the biggest and most fun Hash event of the year with great venues, challenging runs, the ever popular Charity Red dress run and of course lashing of alcohol.

As always we are looking for Hashers to support the event and help with the organisation so let us know via email if you are interested. . .

We are also planning for the [Circle] “Down Downs” to be hosted by various Hashing groups from around the world to add to the international flavour of the PANHP 2015. Again, all you Grand Masters, Religious Advisors or Hashers who think they can run a fun circle please contact us via email with your Hash group name and theme.

Sounds fun? then join the fun and register today!”

NOTE: I’m choosing Sat 8am and Sun 4pm with the aim to have a few extra hours to look around Anji, but I’ll go with what the crowd thinks. FYI, the Suzhou Hashers arrive at about 1pm on Sat and will leave at 2pm right after lunch on Sun.

HZH3 Hash #149 – “The Who Let The Animals Out Run” – Re-HASHED

HZH3 Hash #149 – “The Who Let The Animals Out Run” – Sat, 11 October, 2.30pm – Starting at the Hangzhou Osmanthus Tea Garden

Hares for Hash #149 were Small Cups and Sweet FA. Small Cups has just recently moved to Hangzhou (to study French) from Xiamen. She helped set a course for the Xiamen Nash Hash earlier this year. It’s great to see her jump straight in to Hare duties here in Hangzhou too!

Unfortunately, Sat, 11 Oct, was a working day for most people, but 8 of us still made it out to the ManJueLong area for a great Hash. We had 2 visitors from Shanghai, Double Nipple Impact and Forest Dump. We also had 3 Hash Virgins (Just “Clara”, Just “Catherine” and Just “Iker”) – well done to each of you! Finally, it was great to see Just “Julian” along for his 2nd Hash with us. In fact, Just “Julian” got started early by walking all the way to the Hash start location from near the ZheDa YuQuan Campus!!!

The Hares set an amazing Hash trail (of course!) that included forest tracks, twisting hill side paths, mountain top lookouts, dark and spooky caves, a scenic beer check and tea field mazes. While we were setting the trail, I don’t know what happened, but near the end, Small Cups got lost when we separated to do separate parts of the runners’ and walkers’ trails… I didn’t have any mobile phone signal (damn you China Unicom!!!!), so I couldn’t contact her.  Later, in the Circle, I don’t know whether she or I should have been given a Down Down…. but, I gave it to her.  😉  Anyway, I went ahead to meet the Hashers who had been waiting patiently at the start point for the Hares who were running a minute or two (or 30…) late. Luckily, Small Cups arrived just a few minutes later. By now it was already about 3pm…

After some quick pre-Hash instructions for the Hash Virgins. The 5 Hash walkers headed up the hill straight away though Lower ManJueLong Village then on through the twisty forest trail up South Peak while the Hash runners (the experienced SH pair and I) did another loop before joining the same trail. We caught up with the Hash walkers at the top of South Peak. After that we all headed down to WengJia Village to the beer check.

After a refreshing 15 minute break, with the clouds looking quite grey, the runners headed off first. We first descended to another cave and then climbed up above ManJueLong Village again to enter the tea field maze. The runners had extra bonus tea field maze and they had some fun looking for flour spots on the ground between the overgrown tea bushes. The walkers had a simpler route through this section.

A little bit of very light rain started falling in the last 10 minutes of the run and the walkers finished about 15 or 20 minutes later but didn’t get wet either. We ordered some beers and had a very basic Circle led by me and with lots of help from the other experienced Hashers (Thanks guys and girls!).  Four of us stayed around for a tasty, but over-priced Bash dinner (we’ll try a different farmer restaurant next time – I’m sure we’ll head back to this great Hashing area in a few month’s time).

See some of the action in the photos below.

Hangzhou Hash #148 – “The September Shanghai Surprise Run” – Re-HASHED

Hares for Hash #148 on 27 Sep 2014 were Creme Brulee, Obama and KFC (special guest Hares from Shanghai) and they set a fantastic tea fields, hills and forests trail in the MaoJiaBu and China Tea Museum areas.

We had lots of visiting Hashers from Shanghai and Suzhou along for this Hash. It was easily our biggest Hangzhou Hash ever (in the current era, anyway…). We probably had 65 – 70 Hashers!!!

The Hares had us shiggying through wild forests and scrambling up steep rocky slopes. They also crossed the runners trail and half the runners got lost for 30 minutes… Penalty Down Downs were awarded.

But, that’s what can happen when you get the Hares very drunk very late into the night before the Hash.  🙂

After a super fun Hash, we had a great Circle with lots of Down Downs and shenanigans. That was followed by a fine feast at the ShiWeiXian Tea Farmer’s Restaurant on MeiLing North Road.

See some of the action in the photos below.
