The Hares for Hash #171 are Ring of Fire with Pussy Galore and Cliterate.

The Hares promise you runners’ and walkers’ trails featuring fantastic, never before seen sights for HZH3 Hash #171. There will be scenic parks, forests and hills, of course, but also lakes, tea fields and gardens, and cultural sites and other stuff you’d expect on a SCENIC HANGZHOU RUN.

We will start the #171 HZH3 Hash at Village Imperial Garden Restaurant (XiangCun Yu HuaYuan) at #76 KuoShiBan Street (near YuHuangShan Road – about 1km South of West Lake) in ShangCheng District of Hangzhou – It’s about a 300m walk from the China Silk Museum too. (NOTE: Some maps might call the street “GeShiBan Street”.)

Bus 公交: Many buses stop at the buses stops near to the meeting point too. Go to the Google Map or BaiDu Map above and then look at the nearby bus stops to see if a suitable bus route is available for you. HOWEVER, There may be bus route changes in this part of West Lake on weekends due to traffic redirection.

Public Hire Bikes 共用自行车: Why not beat the traffic jams or get some extra exercise and ride a bike to the start? There are two Red Public Hire Bike points quite near to the meeting point. See the transport map above.

After the #171 Hash we’ll have the “Circle” to award Down Downs (beer provided 免费啤酒) for transgressions of Hash etiquette or protocol, errors of judgement, and various other misdemeanours, and then everyone is invited to join us for the Bash (dinner 晚餐). NOTE: The Bash has a separate cost. 注意:晚餐是另一个费用.

You can expect HZH3 Hash runs roughly (or sometimes VERY roughly… if the hares had a big night out on the night before…) every other Saturday (i.e. fortnightly) and both runners’ and walkers’ trails will usually be set. This is usually a short cut for the Walkers’ trail and the aim is to have all Hashers finish at about the same time.

It’s fun, it’s social, it’s healthy (mostly…), so come along and be a part of it!!!

HZH3 8th BIRTHDAY PARTY (Tue, 2 Jun, 6pm) + HZH3 Hash #169 (Sat, 6 Jun, 3.30pm) – BOTH at Maya Bar!

Hi Folks,

I’ll just give you a short and sweet message for now… We have a fun and busy 2 weeks of Hashing ahead!!! 🙂

First, a big congratulations to HEIDE and Saeko on the birth of their new baby boy!!! Another new Hasher has been born. 🙂

Second, the Hangzhou Hash is turning 8 years old on Tuesday (2 June), so let’s celebrate with a few HZH3 Birthday drinks at Maya Bar where it all began, of course! The fun will start at 6pm. TimH at Maya Bar will generously give everyone 1 free drink (Tiger beer or Coke/Sprite/Water). Just add Maya Bar on WeChat and LIKE the latest Moments post (which has our Hangzhou Hash logo in it).

If you are still thirsty (and what true Hasher wouldn’t be??? ;)), then the HZH3 will give you a 2nd drink (Tiger beer or Coke/Sprite/Water) free for Hashers! 🙂 Some people will no doubt do the usual Tuesday night run/walk at 7.30pm too.

The Hangzhou Hash is about to host the 14th All China Nash Hash (22-24 May), so we’ll see LOTS of hills, forests and tea fields then. So, come and relax with us on a scenic, and mostly quite flat, canals hike or run this Saturday afternoon!!!

Taiping Hash: April 25 – Info for Shanghai Hashers!

After a 14-month strategic retreat, the Taipings are again on the move.

We return to the stunning scenery northwest of Hangzhou for Dongming Shan with Bamboo forests, placid lakes, burbling streams, rice paddies, tea plantations, friendly villagers, and culture aplenty. Attached should be some photos of the site. More here: www.hzdms.com/portal/cn/dms/

The hares promise a well-marked and challenging trail of 12 -15 km with plenty of elevation. There will also be a short trail for fit walkers/hikers.

The run location is northwest of Hangzhou in the direction of Moganshan. Thus, we will not be driving through Hangzhou city or around West Lake multiple times getting lost. We go straight to the run site.

Walkers are welcome so long as they maintain a brisk, vigorous pace, and do not wear high heels or slippers.

Hashers from Suzhou and Hangzhou are also welcome, provided they can keep up with the Taiping runners.

Please sign up if you plan to go! Limited spots for the bus! Please provide actual names so we have an accurate count and can book the bus and bash site.

Cost: 250 RMB for the whole day, including snacks, refreshments, transport, bash dinner, expert guide.

Payment: To get a seat in the bus, please pay in advance. Payment can be made at the Full Moon Hash on April 1, at the Drunken Dragon Hash, or by large unmarked envelops to the Hares.

9: 00 a .m. Puxi, Tongren Lu (towards YuYuan Lu) nearby Malone’s. This is the place the Drunken Dragons use. This place is near the Portman. We will not meet in the Portman.

9: 15 a .m. Hongqiao, The Grassy Knoll, Yan’an Road by Hongxu Road

Bash: Delicious Zhejiang food and vast quantities of ice cold Tsingtao beer

Driving Directions: Take the Hangzhou Ring Road, G 2501, Gouzhuang Exit (勾庄). Turn left on Highway G104 after the tollbooth. Follow the signs to the park. Right on Dongxi Dadao (东西大道) and left on Moganshan Lu (莫干山路), which turns into Xiangpeng Road (祥彭线). Turn right on Anxi Lu (安溪路). At the roundabout after crossing over the river, turn left. We will start the run on Anhe Xian Road (按河线), which is below Kangmen Reservoir (康门水库). We will not start at the Dongming Shan Park parking lot.

Notice: While the hares will do their best to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all the Taiping Hash is not suitable for those out of shape, with health issues or children. The runs are set on mountain paths and natural hazards. While the hares and organizers will do their best to avoid these hazards anyone participating agrees that they are responsible for themselves and have adequate health insurance to cover any eventuality. Proper footwear and clothing suitable for hiking/running should be worn. It is also recommended that you bring plenty of water and a cell phone in case of need, especially if you too busy talking to follow the flour trails laid perfectly adequately by the hares.

The Hares for Hash #162 are: Sheep Shagger with Just “Cecilia” and Just “Cathy”.

The Hares promise you runners’ and walkers’ trails featuring fantastic, never before seen sights for HZH3 Hash #162. There will be picturesque LongJing tea field scenery, tall tree-lined tracks, creek crossings, historic buildings and monuments, plus a scenic hill or three, of course, and lots of other great stuff you’d expect on a SCENIC HANGZHOU TEA VILLAGE RUN.

HZH3 Hash #162 start / meeting venue – The Qiao Garden Restaurant and Hotel (Qiao Yuan Wo Jia 侨园我家) is in the Longjing Village. Follow the taxi through the big wooden gate posts then go down the hill to the fork in the road and the Qiao Garden Hotel is near there 100m uphill along the right hand (N-W) fork.

Cost 费用: 20RMB – Covers: run/hike, beer and snacks. 包括: 跑步/爬山,啤酒,小吃.

Bus 公交: The K27 bus goes just past 龙井村 Longjing Village (some #27 special (early morning and late evening) services go very close to the Qiao Garden Hotel). The #87 (ex Y3?) also goes to the top of the hill near the Longjing Main Gate. (click the bus stop icon on the Baidu or Google Maps). Last buses go past at about 8pm, I think.

Public Hire Bikes 共用自行车: I don’t think there is a Red Hire Bike point in LongJing Village, so if you take one, then you might be up for some late fees! Take some bike lights for safer night riding home too. I think the closest Red Hire Bike points are to the north in the China Tea Museum and to the south near the lake in the the middle of the 9 Creeks trail.

After the #162 Hash we’ll have the “Circle” to award Down Downs (beer provided 免费啤酒) for transgressions of Hash etiquette or protocol, errors of judgement, and various other misdemeanours, and then everyone is invited to join us for the Bash (dinner 晚餐). HZH3 Hash 161 – “The Earth Shattering Earth Hour Environmental Consciousness Hash” – Sat, Mar 28, 2.30pm

NOTE: Hash #161 is an A to B Hash, so try not to take a HUGE backpack or bag full of stuff since some poor sappy sod (probably me) will have to cart everybody’s bags to the end point! Of course you might want to carry a mini backpack, satchel or a bum bag in which to put your valuables to take with you on the Hash trail for safekeeping.

Also, please be early or at least on time at 2.30pm (!!!) as I’d like to leave to take all your lousy bags to the end point at 2.45pm at the latest. There are LOTS of great restaurants and interesting shops and historic sites in the small alleys near the start point (including the Drum Tower itself), so NO excuses!!! If you are late (after 2.45pm), then you’ll have to carry your own god damn bag all the way!

Hangzhou “Fullish Moon”/Night Hash #1 – “The Searching for Yue Liang and Leprechauns St. Paddy’s Night Hash” –Tue, Mar 17, 2015, 8pm

Hangzhou Hashers and Friends,

Q: Why did the young Irish Hasher put on 3 condoms before making sweet love, all night long, in a wide variety of Kama Sutra-esque positions, with his lovely young Irish Harriet girlfriend?

A: To be sure, to be sure, to be sure.

On that note, let me tell you that there’s been one thing missing from Hangzhou Hashing ever since it began several thousand years ago in Ireland when the Celts and Picts were battling the Romans… and that is night time Hashes!!!

But now, after endless millennia of constant battles and conquests, our wait is finally over!

Actually, I’ll be honest, it was really just after a few months of talk, chit chat and idle whispers (and many beers) at Maya Bar, that Private Parts recently put his powerful, heavy duty leather and other space age materials, military booted foot down and drew a line in the sand… he then drew 2 more significantly shorter lines, with marksman-like military precision, and made what military folks like to call an “arrow”…

And, that arrow was pointed to Tuesday, 17 March 2015 on the calendar…

Which happens to be St. Patrick’s Day… Which happens to be an excellent day and night on which to drink green beer…

And, which also happens to be an excellent day and night on which to enter forests and steal pots of gold from Leprechauns!!! So, another benefit of doing the 1st ever Hangzhou Night Hash will be that you’ll get filthy rich!!!

Plus, there will be bonus Down Downs if you actually see the Moon!!!

Down Downs should be delivered by an appropriately attired Beer Wench / Beer AiYi, of course! 😉

Hello again HZH3 Hashers and those who want to be,

For our HZH3 Hash #160 on 14 March 2015 (aka 14 / 3 / 2015, aka 3.14.15….) get ready to celebrate the LIFE OF π Day!!!

NOTE: On that day, there’s a very special time in the morning (and night) at 9:26:53 am or pm… which can be represented as: 3.14.15 9:26:53… Which gives you the first 10 digits of π.

Wow, people! We just Mathed and Scienced real good! 😉

On the other hand, Hashers generally prefer to talk about Math less and talk about butts more.

So, on that note, I’ll just say that, π rhymes with 拍 (Pai in Chinese). And, 拍 (Pai) is the first character of 拍马屁 (Pai Ma Pi), which means to “pat the horse’s butt”, which basically means to “kiss someone’s arse/ass” or “suck up to someone” or “be a toady” or “be a brown noser”.

But, remember kids… no-one likes a brown noser!

HZH3 Hash #159 – “The Half Hasher, Half Sheep, Half Goat Lunar New Year Hash” – Sat, 28 February, 2.30pm

Hello again HZH3 Hashers and those who want to be,

Whether you’re a runner 跑步者, a jogger 慢跑者 or a walker 走步/爬山者, come along and hit the country roads, garden paths and tea field trails while chasing the ‘hares’ through the forests and over the hills around Hangzhou with us. 欢迎大家!

The Hares for Hash #159 are Private Parts with Heavy Junk, and Just “Trisha” (and maybe Just “Alfonso”).

The Hares promise you runners’ and walkers’ trails featuring fantastic, never before seen sights for HZH3 Hash #159. There will be picturesque West Lake scenery, tall tree-lined lakeside paths, historic buildings and monuments, scenic but crooked causeways and maybe a small hill or two, of course, but there will also be other lakes, other parks and gardens, and other cultural sites and other stuff you’d expect on a SCENIC HANGZHOU WEST LAKE RUN.

We will start the #159 HZH3 Hash at Mr Beer Bar and Restaurant at 87-3 BeiShan Road (near Starbucks Cafe) – Just inside the big gate of QuYuan FengHe Park.

Hares 带路”野兔”: Private Parts with Heavy Junk, and Just “Trisha” (and maybe Just “Alfonso”)

Cost 费用: 20RMB – Covers: run/hike, beer and snacks. 包括: 跑步/爬山,啤酒,小吃.

Bus 公交: There are bus stops about 50m east (Beishan Road) and 400m west (Lingyin Road) and 600m N-W (Shuguang Road) of the Mr Beer Bar and Restaurant. Please be aware that there may be changed routes and delays on weekends, so please go EARLY. Go to the Google Map or BaiDu maps above and then look at the nearby bus stops to see if a suitable bus route is available for you.

Public Hire Bikes 共用自行车: Why not beat the traffic jams or get some extra exercise and ride a bike to the start? There is a small Red Public Hire Bike point just 50m west of the meeting point and a bigger one about 400m to the east. See the detailed public transport map above.

After the #159 Hash we’ll have the “Circle” to award Down Downs (beer provided 免费啤酒) for transgressions of Hash etiquette or protocol, errors of judgement, and various other misdemeanours, and then everyone is invited to join us for the Bash (dinner 晚餐). NOTE: The Bash has a separate cost. 注意:晚餐是另一个费用.

It’s fun, it’s social, it’s healthy (mostly…), so come along and be a part of it!!!
